Physical Description:

Standing at five feet and ten inches tall (5'10), Cassidy is a bit above-average in terms of height. However - at 120lbs - he's under-average, as far as weight goes.

As for eye color, he has light green eyes; almost tea green, in some settings. His hair is a reddish, penny brown color. It's also as curly as it is brown; one glance at the man suggests that he's never seen a straightener in his life.

Despite that, it's also a good bit curly, going down to just above the base of his neck. Alongside that, it's slightly parted on the right side of his forehead. On occasion, he can be spotted wearing it up in a ponytail.

He also has a small amount of hair on his chin and upper lip, all adding up to the stubbly outline of a beard and mustache.

Making his heritage pretty easy to discern, he has a mostly light Irish accent. It happens to pair well with his slightly low-tone voice.

On-the-job, he can usually be seen wearing a navy blue collar shirt, black khakis, and a belt - tying the look together with a pair of black Oxfords.

Despite no longer needing it, he still wears a wedding band on his left hand's ring finger. The band is black, taking the shape of a complete circle with little to be seen, aside from an inscription.

In gold-colored lettering, the words "Anam Cara" are written around the ring. In English, it translates to "Soul friend"; "Soul mate".

Personality:

Cassidy comes usually comes off as friendly - charming, even. Dad jokes and an easy-going attitude are far from foreign for him. He comes off as someone who could be a "cool" step father.

That said, he still stands up for himself, if need be. If someone pushes him, he pushes back, both in a literal and metaphorical sense. However - if possible - he does try to defuse a situation before it gets to that point.

And like just as most do - in the younger years, albeit - he enjoys having a good drink and a nice conversation with a friend.

All said, he does hide a level of grief behind his soft exterior. Although it might occasionally be seen, you'd be hard-pressed to witness a moment like that in person.

[ Background Information:]

Backstory:

Cassidy Deirdre was born in Donegal, Ireland to Elena Deirdre and Harris Deirdre on April 14th, 1983. He had a rather normal, slightly sheltered upbringing. Luckily for him, neither parent had any overtly glaring issues. Despite that, however, he still got his fair share of bullying, due to his first name. Since "Cassidy" was commonly seen as a feminine name, most of school was… not entirely fun, on most days.

In his early teens, Cassidy's parents bought their first computer, in both an effort to not live in the past, and because his mother's profession needed her to start using an email address for work. Over the next few months, Cassidy began to use the PC more and more, slowly learning what he could about how the machine worked. He actually preferred the learning over having fun. There was something about it that made it feel more rewarding. However - over time - he's learned to enjoy both.

Throughout elementary and high school, Cassidy continued to go out of his way to learn what he could, and made decently above-average grades. He was your model student, more or less; he did his work and did it well, at that. As for his social standing, it wasn't until the last two years of high school that most people matured and stopped making fun of his name.

Aside from that, he usually had at least a few friends. Some of them were decent, loyal people, and some of them were just a bit less prickish than others. So, girlfriends - a boyfriend or two when he realized he didn't actually like girlfriends - and others kept him from being a loner. All in all, there wasn't too much for him to ask for.

After high school ended, he quickly began trying to pursue further education. It took some time to figure out what he specifically wanted to go to school for, as he had a number of interests. Once he weeded out a few ideas, he settled on two main fields: engineering, and business management.

Why business management? Because in his young, ambitious mind, he had a grand plan on becoming successful. He wanted to make a company oriented around computers and other modern devices. The engineering degree would help with the mechanical side of things, and the business management degree would help with actually running things.

In the end, it obviously fell through.

After having his eyes set on those two fields, he began looking for colleges to attend. He applied to several, but the first to respond to him was University College Cork in Cork, Ireland. There were a lot of pros to attending UCC, but there was one large con: it was practically across the country. While Cassidy was prepared to leave home for the sake of his education, his parents, on the other hand, had their grievances.

Though - thankfully - their dislike for the idea slowly subsided, and Cassidy was on his way to Cork.

His time at UCC was slightly bland for some time; not enough money to pay for much other than the necessities, no real friends, and most of him time was dedicated to studying. Unexpectedly, that changed during his third year there.

During the aforementioned third year, Cassidy ended up becoming a friend of one his peers: Matvey Doyle. Like Cassidy, Matvey was pursing a career in engineering, and also held a great interest in the subject. This led to the two quickly developing a friendship.

Between that time and when they graduated, Cassidy told Matvey about his plan of building a business. Initially reluctant, Matvey eventually agreed to help Cassidy.

Being each other's only real friend, Cassidy and Matvey finally graduated together in 2009. Cassidy got a degree in engineering and business management, while Matvey got degrees in engineering and computer science.

Once out of UCC, Cassidy had two options. His first option was returning to Donegal and figure out how he could still have Matvey - who he was continuously growing closer with - involved with the business.

He found that to be needlessly complicated, given how far away Cork and Donegal were, and settled on his second option: staying in Cork for a while longer.

Obviously, Cassidy's parents were against the idea at first, but - once again - they relented. Given the fact that Matvey had lived in Cork his entire life, and the two were best friends, he spoke to his own parents about letting Cassidy stay a roommate.

Naturally, they were against the idea, but that wasn't to say that Matvey didn't negotiate with them for an hour straight, give or take. In the end, they agreed, and their one condition was that Cassidy would pay rent and help out around the house.

Cassidy found the deal to be perfect; he accepted.

Almost immediately after the residency situation was settled, Cassidy got to work on building his business. The original idea was simple: a computer parts and repair store. Not exactly Microsoft-level work, but enough to make money from something he enjoyed.

Aside from that, he needed to decide on where the business' first location would be, alongside filing with the Companies Registration Office.

As for the location, he thought that the Black Pool Shopping Centre would be perfect; it was almost in the middle of Cork, popular, etc. With there being room to lease, putting the business in there would work.

In late 2009, he finally filed with the CRO. His business would be called "Cork Computer Parts and Repair". In USD, it cost about fifty-eight dollars to register the business. And as per their former agreement, Matvey owned half of the business.

As for the lease and logistics, he decided to take out a loan.

Leasing a spot in the shopping centre and stocking the shelves ran up a hefty bill. Luckily for the two of them, there were, well, two of them. That meant that - in the beginning - they didn't need to hire anyone else.

When the store first opened, things were decent. They got a few customers, and profits began making their way in. It wasn't enough to pay the loan back, but it would add up.

But - obviously - good times didn't last. In early 2010, everything they worked for came tumbling down on top of them.

On one fateful day - near closing - they had a register full of money after a considerably successful day; one of their best yet. Minutes before the store would have been closed, someone entered.

A man - appearing to in at least his late forties - walked into the store, looking disheveled and jumpy. He was a far cry from their usual customers.

As quick as he entered, the man approached the counter, withdrew a medium-sized pocket knife, and threatened Matvey - who was the only one in the store at the time - demanding everything in the cash register.

To make a long story short, they were relieved of all the money in the register, and Matvey was a phone and wallet short. Once the police arrived, the man was already long-gone, and there wasn't much they could do.

The event didn't receive much attention from the media; it was a small, unremarkable business with little to note.

Missing a day's worth of profits, and with Matvey reluctant to man the cash register, they decided that it might be best to search for greener pastures; maybe they were in over their heads.

Cassidy was devastated over his failure, but glad that Matvey wasn't physically harmed, nonetheless. He still had a small debt to pay off, however. Thankfully, they already paid back about a quarter of it.

Cassidy and Matvey chose to go simple and looked for jobs with any company involved in tech or engineering.

And as fate would have it, it didn't take them long to both find a job with a moderately-sized company. They both applied as technicians, and were both accepted.

The job paid well, and the two slowly took out enough money to get rid of their debt. About a month after taking the job, they moved into a small apartment together. The future was looking rather bright.

As the days went by, they started to have less and less to worry about. During this time, Cassidy began to realize something that he had seemingly repressed for a while up to that point.

He saw Matvey as more than a close friend.

From past experiences, this revelation wasn't that surprising; he knew what he was attracted to. Despite that, he still took a while to actually agree with the idea, as he felt like keeping things platonic until they got everything in order.

Cass felt like it was better to put business before relationships. To him, it helped things stay copacetic.

And although it seemed like a rather good time to bring this up to Matvey, Cassidy kept it to himself for the time being. It was better to think about it, than to bum-rush an undercooked idea.

Cassidy ended up deciding to visit his parents once a month, mainly to keep them happy about him living far away. Although his mother was still a bit uneasy with it, she calmed down.

After about a month, the two were living with a nice amount of money in their pockets, and fading troubles.

At this time - to Cass' absolute surprise - Matvey approached him about feelings of his own. As it turned out, he had begun to feel the same was as Cassidy, without neither knowing it.

With that being the case, the two soon found themselves as more than friends, and entered (albeit slightly reluctantly) into a romantic relationship together.

Early 2010, the two - with enough money to satisfy most of their needs - moved into an actual home together, a mortgage and all.

With Cassidy's family being mainly Catholic, and Matvey's being Orthodox Christians, they decided to play a façade of just being good friends, at least for the time being. They chose to keep things calm and simple.

After moving in together, things continued as they had been. They worked, got good pay, and enjoyed a middle-class lifestyle. About six years of the same things went by before a big change happened.

They decided to get engaged in 2015.

That year, same-sex marriage became legal, which meant good things for the two.

With their income, they could afford it. And on January 5th, 2015, Cassidy and Matvey were legally wed. This, obviously, led to their families finding out about the reality of their relationship.

As they had expected, some people had their grievances, but they grew quiet as they realized that nothing they said would change either man's mind.

Things once again carried on, until a month later.

Matvey went to speak with his doctor, after being sure he had contracted a stomach virus. As it turned out, he did indeed have a virus, but he also had something more than just that.

Checking his heartbeat an blood pressure - as is usual when going to a doctor for almost anything - it came back that Matvey had atrial fibrillation; heart disease, marked by an irregular heartbeat.

Thankfully, it didn't immediately cause any severe problems, only occasional flutters in his heart. He was prescribed medication for the condition, which he took from then on.

Cassidy was, unsurprisingly, not happy with this news.

For a short time, things did continue as normal, however. His husband's disease wasn't noticeable, so - at times - it felt like he wasn't even at risk.

That changed, inevitably.

In the meantime, there were more simple, wholesome events that happened. With Ireland passing laws to allow and protect same-sex marriage, some felt that it was only a matter of time before they passed laws doing the same with same-sex parents adopting.

They were partly right, as just that ended up happening two years down the line.

Cassidy and Matvey were eager to adopt, either later on in life or whenever the law allowed it. All things considered, they felt as though they were capable of taking care of a child with their current financial situation.

In his free time, Cassidy began reading books on parenting, and preparing for the future possibility of him actually becoming a father.

That day would never come.

On November 28th, 2016, the day began as normal. The two had started working a late shift at the office they were employed at; they would usually enter work late in the evening and leave early in the morning.

Having overslept by a few minutes, Matvey neglected to take his medication before they left for work.

Their shift was ending as it normally did. People were clocking out and going home, just as they would usually do. Throughout the entire shift, Matvey was working on something he had been previously assigned.

Cassidy had finished everything he had for the day, and decided to stay a few minutes late to sit with Matvey, who had a deadline closing in on him, and decided to take some extra time to finish the project.

The two sat and talked, and as Matvey was nearing the end of the project, Cassidy decided to go ahead and get their car started. He felt like being nice. Having the car warm for Matvey when he got finished with his work would be both a nice break from the office's cold air and would, hopefully, alleviate some of his stress.

Going to the parking lot, Cassidy was doing just that. After having the car on, he looked through his phone while he kept waiting for his husband.

Almost thirty minutes later, Matvey hadn't shown up.

Now concerned about why Matvey hadn't arrived outside yet, Cassidy went back inside, and took a few minutes getting to the floor the two had their cubicles on. The scene that he walked in on was forever burned into his memory.

Matvey was slumped over on his desk, seeming to initially be asleep.

After trying to wake him - thinking he had only dozed off - Cassidy realized that something was wrong. Checking the man's pulse revealed that he was alive, but apparently unconscious.

After calling for an ambulance, Matvey was taken off to a hospital, after most likely suffering a heart attack.

Later that day, he was pronounced dead after suffering a sudden, critical heart attack.

It went without saying that Cassidy was beyond devastated; his entire life up to that moment was practically tore away from him in a matter of moments.

Over the next few weeks, he grew depressed. After a week of this, he managed to get his boss to agree with him working from home, seeing as how his job was mainly computer-based.

He became something close to a recluse, only leaving home to go grocery shopping. People at work began to forget about him.

About a year later, in 2017, he began slowly recovering. At one point, he began to consider going back to work in-person.

However, another offer came up.

With his qualifications and experience, alongside his lack of personal connections, the SCP Foundation took interest in Cassidy Deirdre.

Around the middle of the day, on December 3rd, 2017, two men knocked on Cassidy's door. After allowing them to come in to speak, they quickly gave Cassidy an offer. He could work with the SCP Foundation as a member of the Electrical & Technical Services department.

At first, he wanted to deny the offer, but a few moments of consideration changed his mind. It would be a new start, away from here, with new people and new work.

The chat ended with him accepting the job.

From then on, Cassidy worked with the Foundation as an systems technician. He did a good job, and began to actually interact with people again.

During this, he reinvented his personality. His age and once-growing knowledge on parenting caused him to start having a father-like personality; he started to seem approachable, friendly, and even level-headed.

That type of thing was a bit rare with the Foundation.

He inevitably worked his way up the ranks, becoming a senior engineer before hitting a plateau.

The high-ranking parts of his department were filled, leaving him with nowhere to go. This didn't bother him, however; he didn't care about his rank.

An offer did eventually come, though. Site-70 - some facility in Washington, USA - was lacking an Assistant Site Director.

Cassidy's degree in business management finally came in handy, as it made him a reasonable candidate for such a position. As far as the Foundation was concerned, he proved himself a loyal, good worker, and he had the know-how for running a business.

Since November 30th, 2020, Cassidy Deirdre has worked as the Assistant Site Director at Site-70, serving under Site Director Mike Quinn.
